Welcome to SPRINGBACKERS a quarterly newsletter which is aimed to provide information about Springback treatment and to unite all those patients who have benefited from it. The introduction of the SPRINGBACKERS website is an exciting new development designed to provide a positive focus for all patients and supporters, to keep you in touch with events, and to allow you to contribute your own success stories in relation to the Springback treatment. Most of all, it is aimed to provide support and encouragement to the three most important people concerned, Bethan and Jules, and Robert Taylor, and this is dedicated to them.

What exactly is Springback treatment? It is almost universally misunderstood. At its simplest it involves:

(1) freeing fixed joints in the spine

(2) waking up dormant posture muscles, and,

(3) a simple exercise programme.

The most misunderstood part is the use of the Power Assisted Mobilisation equipment without which the treatment is impossible. The simple fact is that PAM is only a tool and depends entirely on the skill of a dedicated practitioner. The most appropriate analogy (bearing in mind that Bethan is an accomplished violinist) is the violin. According to Jules, who also plays the violin and is the practice manager of Springback: “You can give anyone a violin and explain that you make music by putting it under your chin and scraping the strings with the bow, but not everyone will be able to knock a tune out of it without aptitude, dedication, and willingness to continue learning and improving all the time. In the beginning you need a good teacher and a lot of lessons”.
